JOE'S PROFILE

| Hi there, I’m Joe Nickels. I am 23 years old and currently working at a nuclear power plant as an Electrical Engineer. My life consists of very few things: friends, athletics, work, and music. Seeing as I am now out of college and have obtained a level of laziness that I never thought existed, athletics have dropped pretty far down on my list of priorities. Also, some friends have been lost due to what they say is my “stink” which was achieved by lack of proper bathing/grooming techniques. (j/k) By setting these things aside, I have more time to enjoy things like concerts, mp3’s, sound production, and basically anything else that pertains to music.
I’ve spent my whole life enjoying every aspect of music. Though I don’t enjoy all types of music, I have had what I feel to be enough exposure to be able to decide what music is good and what isn't. Back in the day my mother would force me to listen to oldies in the kitchen as I did the dishes and my father blasted country music as I would mow the lawn or clean the garage. Let it be known that these types of music, though not exceptionally intriguing to me, are forever engrained in my mind and therefore give me a broad base of knowledge pertaining to them. And, of course, like any college student, I love any music trivia pertaining to songs categorized as classic rock, new age, punk, alternative, etc. Years of performing in every band and choir that my high school offered has also giving me exposure to many classical and jazz songs. My performances have ranged from the county fair to the state level in Madison and even to Japan. One thing I have learned throughout my years is that in order to put on a successful show, one must perform. It sounds trivial, but if you don’t entertain, the show flops. In regards to a show, the success of it depends half on performance and half on relating/connecting to the audience (i.e. song selection, attitude). SWAHT always makes sure to strive for that connection so that we can honestly be able to call ourselves a “different kind of DJ service”. Another key aspect of a performance is the equipment. It should directly reflect the performance itself. quality equipment + quality music --> quality performance = quality DJs Sincerely, Joe Nickels S.W.A.H.T. Team DJs P.S.
